Longboard Asheville: Mellow Downhill Run

boredfelipe — April 27, 2010 — Mellow downhill. Asheville area longboarding. Skateboarding in the Asheville, North Carolina area takes on a new dimension with endless miles of winding mountain roads. This is different from the skateboarding you see on TV with stairs, ledges, kickflips, ollies, 10 stair treflips. Skateboarding and longboarding are against the law in Ashville so be careful and wear a helmet. All of the riders in this video are expert riders with boards and equipment than IS NOT for sale in local stores. DO NOT grab your cheap (anything bought at Zumies, krown, stock sector 9, secter 9, pseudo surf-culture chinese-made crap) and head to the top of your nearest hill in flip-flops and boardshorts. You might survive a few times but sooner or later you WILL pay the price in flesh and blood. These are some shots I took in spring of 2009 and re-edited. Don’t ask me for the exact location of the roads.

Trucks can be the breaker for some longboarders.The different turning angles, spring loaded or not, the type of bearings you use and the wheel combination all make a large difference in how it rides. Whether it’s for bombing hills or street cruising, knowing the trucks that work best for your riding style and longboarding flair. Longboarding.

Original S8 (200mm) Longboard Trucks:

“We have developed three longboard truck sizes, each to hit a specific rider / riding type. Similarly we have also developed three different tension springs to expand our riding possibilities. Each truck size and spring tension has a completely different feel.

We recommend that heavier riders (160 Lbs and over) as well as riders who have a lot of longboarding experience on traditional longboard trucks (randal, paris etc) go for the wider sizes of Originals (S8 200mm or S10 250mm) and for the heavier tension spring options.

Lighter riders (less than 160Lbs), beginners (who will enjoy the ease of turning) and riders who surf, and want a more surfy ride, may want to lean towards the mid or small sized hangers and the lighter tension springs.”

These are super bad ass looking trucks. They have yellow and black spirals and that is always something to go for ha. They are long, so they look like they are great for bombing hills or street cruising, just use a wrench to adjust the tilt to whatever you are doing

Okay okay so I haven’t picked yet. It’s really hard though! Between friends having a blast, sick moves, and great photography I have to choose on a wide set of variables! Excuses, I know but I really am and have been having a tough time as I’ve been receiving all these emails. I really appreciate your support and I’ll continue doing this (the website and longboarding thing, not taking too long to decide contest winners! :P ) and keep the hobby and lifestyle growing yknow.

The next hardest part is delegating prizes based on who I decide. I would love everyone to have a LongboardNOW.com shirt but damnit I don’t have the money to ship it yknow ha but hey you gotta start somewhere. I’m amassing all my gifts to send but on top of them, what do you, the readers/viewers and photographers want? I know we all want to follow our passions and hell I’m working on that right now but let me get inside your heads and maybe we can inspire yknow?
